ABOUT US

Little Carat is a jewelry photography service specializing in high quality product & still-life photography for jewelry businesses.

Little Carat was founded in 2016 by Seb Ettinger, a commercial product photographer whose work has been featured in Vogue, Elle, Lucky, InStyle, Redbook and Harper’s Bazaar and who has shot for clients including Sony, HP, Compaq and dozens of jewelry brands.

While working as director of photography for a leading e-commerce jewelry retailer, Seb discovered that most of the designers lacked quality photos of their merchandise. From this realization sprouted the idea for a specialized studio dedicated to making studio-quality photography accessible to all jewelry businesses, not just those with large marketing budgets. Over the next five years, he focused on mastering the craft of studio jewelry photography and developed a streamlined system for lighting, styling, shooting and editing – the result is Little Carat Jewelry Photography.

Our focus is providing clients with the finest professional jewelry photography at the lowest rates possible. Though located in sunny South Florida, we are a web-based business operating primarily through shipping and email, making our services available anywhere in the U.S.

I can save money by taking my own shots. Why do I need Little Carat?

Image. Unprofessional photos cheapen your brand. In an increasingly competitive market, you can’t afford to be average. No matter how beautiful your jewelry or website may be, if your images aren’t captivating, your customers won’t be interested.

Expertise. Complex lighting, tiny subjects, tricky reflections, tedious styling, color precision, meticulous retouching – jewelry photography is hard. Buying a camera and light tent won’t produce great photos; nor will hiring an inexperienced photographer. The equipment, though important, is a small part of the equation. Highly specialized skills and experience are the keys to quality jewelry photography. Just because you own an expensive set of pots & pans doesn’t mean you can cook a gourmet meal.

Time. Designing, producing, marketing, sales, finances – you have plenty to do when you run a jewelry business. Your time is precious – don’t waste it looking for the cheapest photographer or trying to take the pictures yourself. Spend it doing more important work that only you can do and hire an experienced professional to handle the photographyDelegating this crucial task to an experienced jewelry photographer is one on the best decisions you can make for your business. Little Carat’s process and pricing make it an easy decision.

I'm hesitant to mail valuables. is it safe to ship jewelry?

Security: 100% of our business is done safely via shipping. It’s reliable, fast secure, and your merchandise can be tracked and insured. While in our studio, your items are treated with TLC and stored in a safe.

So what's the catch? How can your prices be so low?

Specialization. Our studio is optimized for jewelry photography, saving setup, shooting and editing time. We do one thing, and we do it well.

Streamlining. No oversized studio or staff. our singular focus and shipping-based business model allow us to keep our overhead (and prices) very low.

Process. Through years of shooting only jewelry, we have developed a process that works. You hand over some of the creative control and we deliver superb images.

The Four C's

In the jewelry business, diamonds are graded by “The Four C’s” : Cut, Color, Clarity & Carat. At Little Carat, we strive to ensure your satisfaction with our own version of the “Four C’s”.

Convenience: We’ve made the process as convenient as possible so you can do it all from your home or office: ordering, shipping, email, reviewing, payment, delivery.

Communication: From our first contact to the delivery of your images, we keep an open dialogue with you to make sure that we understand your needs and you understand the process, options, policies and pricing.

Clarity: FL (Flawless). As with grading diamonds, clarity is crucial to our process, pricing, policies and, of course, our photos.

Confidence: We want you to be confident that your merchandise is in good hands, you are getting a great deal and you will be completely satisfied with your photos.
